Privacy Policy | Mitaq
The short version
Mitaq minimizes data collection and keeps your learning activity private.
- No account, no sign-up, no login. You do not give us a name, email, or phone number.
- No advertising or tracking. We do not profile you, use an advertising identifier, or track you across apps or websites.
- Your learning data stays on your device. The apps you choose to put on hold, your unlock sessions, your answers, your reading progress, your age mode, and your language preference are stored only on your device.
- Subscription purchases are validated anonymously. Apple and RevenueCat process purchase history and an app-generated anonymous identifier so Mitaq Plus can work and purchase performance can be measured. This is not linked to your name, email, religious-learning activity, or Screen Time selections.
- Islamic lessons are fetched anonymously. When the app checks for an updated curriculum, it asks our content service only for French content and an age band. No identifier, no profile, nothing that points back to you, is sent.
If you uninstall Mitaq, the on-device learning data goes with it. There is no server-side Mitaq account for us to delete.
1. What data we collect
Account and contact data: none. Mitaq has no account system and does not ask for or store your name, email address, phone number, contacts, photos, precise location, or any government identifier.
Stored only on your device (never transmitted to us): the apps you select to keep waiting during a focus session; your unlock session state; your lesson progress; your age mode; your app settings. We cannot read any of it from our side.
Purchase data processed for subscriptions: if you view or buy Mitaq Plus, Apple and RevenueCat may process purchase history, product and transaction status, trial eligibility, and an app-generated anonymous user identifier. Mitaq does not attach that identifier to a name, email address, learning answer, or Screen Time selection.
Data sent to our content service (no personal data): to check for an updated Islamic curriculum, the app requests content from our read-only service. Each request includes only the curriculum language and selected age band. It includes no user identifier, device identifier, account, or personal data. Like any internet request, our infrastructure provider may briefly process the connection's IP address to deliver the response and protect the service from abuse; we do not use it to identify you or build a profile, and we do not retain it for analytics.
2. How we use data
On-device data is used solely to run the app for you: to keep your chosen apps waiting until you pass a lesson quiz, to time your earned window, and to remember your age mode and progress. Content requests are used solely to deliver the correct reviewed curriculum for the selected age band. Purchase history is used for app functionality (receipt validation, fraud prevention, entitlements and restoration) and subscription analytics (for example purchase performance). We do not use any data for advertising, cross-app tracking, profiling, resale, or training of AI systems.
3. No AI religious content, no chatbot, no fatwa
Mitaq does not generate religious content with AI and does not operate a religious chatbot, Q&A, or fatwa surface. Lessons are authored and reviewed before publication, with references retained in the editorial process. This is a product principle, and it also means there is no conversational input from you for us to collect.
4. Tracking and advertising
Mitaq does not track you. We do not use the device advertising identifier, we do not show ads, and we do not integrate analytics, attribution, or advertising SDKs. On iOS, Mitaq does not present the App Tracking Transparency prompt because it does no cross-app or cross-site tracking.
5. Cookies
The Mitaq app does not use cookies. Our content service is an API, not a website, and sets no advertising or tracking cookies. This website stores your waitlist email only if you submit it (see §7).
6. Third parties and data sharing
We do not sell or rent data. The only third parties involved in running Mitaq are infrastructure, distribution and subscription providers acting for the service: Cloudflare (the read-only content API and this website), Apple App Store (distribution and payment), RevenueCat (anonymous purchase validation, entitlements and subscription analytics), and Expo / EAS Update (app update delivery). Sources we link to (Tanzil, QuranEnc, IslamHouse, Al-Fiqh, and national bodies) are named authorities whose material we credit; opening their websites is governed by their own privacy policies.
7. Website waitlist
If you join the waitlist on this website, we store the email address you typed (and the page language) in order to email you once, when the app is ready. Nothing else is collected: no tracking pixel and no analytics. To have your email removed, write to hello@mitaq.io.
8. Mitaq subscriptions
Mitaq Plus is offered through auto-renewable monthly and annual subscriptions. An introductory seven-day trial is shown only when the App Store reports that the account is eligible. The purchase is handled by the App Store (Apple); we do not see or store payment-card details. RevenueCat validates access and processes purchase history, an app-generated anonymous ID (not your name or email), the product purchased, eligibility information and transaction status for app functionality and subscription analytics. That purchase data is not linked to your identity, religious-learning answers or Screen Time selections.
9. Data retention and deletion
On-device data stays on your device until you clear it in the app or uninstall Mitaq. There is no server-side Mitaq profile or learning history. Waitlist emails (§7) are kept until launch or until you ask for removal. Purchase data (§8) is retained by Apple and RevenueCat according to their policies and legal obligations.
10. Your rights
There is no Mitaq account or server-side learning history to access, correct, port, or erase. Your learning data is in your hands, on your device. For rights relating to a website waitlist entry or subscription record, contact hello@mitaq.io and we will respond as required by law; Apple also provides controls for App Store purchase history and subscriptions. We do not sell or "share" personal information for cross-context behavioral advertising as defined by California law. Legal basis (GDPR): to the limited extent processing occurs (delivering content, managing the waitlist, validating a subscription, preventing fraud and measuring subscription performance), the basis is performance of the service and our legitimate interest in delivering, protecting and improving it.
11. Children's privacy
Mitaq is a single-user, self-directed tool. It includes reading modes suitable for younger learners (from age 7), but there are no accounts, profiles, behavioral advertising, cross-app tracking, parental controls, family accounts, or child-monitoring features. Learning activity remains on the device. Subscription purchase records are handled anonymously as described in §8. If you believe a child has somehow provided us personal data, contact hello@mitaq.io.
12. International transfers
Content is delivered from a globally distributed network (Cloudflare). Purchase data is handled by Apple and RevenueCat under their own transfer safeguards. Mitaq does not transmit learning answers or Screen Time selections internationally.
13. Security
Mitaq minimizes risk by keeping learning and Screen Time data on-device and by having no user accounts. On-device data is protected by your device's standard operating-system protections. The content API is read-only and serves only public, approved religious content. Purchase validation is delegated to Apple and RevenueCat rather than storing payment credentials ourselves.
14. Changes to this policy
If our data practices change, we will update this policy and revise the "Last updated" date above. Material changes will be noted in the app's release notes.
